Acorn House is in a beautiful rural location on the edge of the magnificent Chatsworth Estate in the ancient little hamlet of Moorhall,. The house enjoys magnificent views across beautiful Peak District countryside being at the head of the Cordwell Valley.
Acorn House was originally restored back in the 1950's but it has recently been completely renovated and enlarged making it perfect for a hen party, large group holiday or break. Guests can enjoy in a comfortable and relaxing environment, amidst a mixture of antique furniture and tasteful good quality fabrics, furnishings and fittings. Importantly, with large parties, the dining room and living room can comfortably seat all guests.
To make your weekend or party completely relaxing, catering can be provided by The Chequers Inn at Froggatt Edge who offer a full catering service at any level. For your girl's weekend we can also organise a full pampering service at the house. This is provided by 'Perfectly Pampered'.
There is plenty locally to keep everyone amused including excellent walking and cycling routes. There are some delightful walks for all ages and abilities immediately from the doorstep. A short walk through the pretty Rosewood leads to Millthorpe and the Royal Oak pub or for keener walkers there is a lovely walk along White Edge to the Grouse Inn. Acorn House is within easy reach of Chatsworth, Haddon Hall, Hardwick Hall, shopping in the old market town of Bakewell or a visit to Alton Towers.
The Accommodation
Acorn House has 7 bedrooms and 4 bathrooms and sleeps up to 15 guests in an 18th Century main building with a modern extension. Guests enter the house is via a dining hall that has a log burning stove and double doors opening onto a patio and garden area. From here a door leads to a large "L" shaped beamed drawing room that has a cosy wood burner and again, double doors that lead to the patio and garden area.
The fully equipped kitchen has all that you might need for your time in the house including an occasional dining table and double doors leading to the patio and garden area.
There is also a ground floor cloakroom with toilet and hand basin and an easy access ground floor bedroom that has two single beds.
There are four bedrooms on the first floor, the master bedroom with a king size bed, its own ensuite bathroom with bath, toilet and handbasin and double doors opening out to the balcony with views of the surrounding countryside. Of the three further bedrooms, two have double beds and ensuite shower rooms with toilets and hand basins, and the fourth bedroom has two single beds. There is also a large bathroom that has a bath with shower over, toilet and hand basin. Two further large bedrooms are inn the eaves of the house, one with a king size bed and the other with three single beds.
We also have an occasional fold up bed that can be put up in most of the bedrooms.
Large private gardens surround the property which open out into woodlands and fields beyond. The grounds are flat allowing for easy access and the car parking is spacious providing access around the house and the garden.
